About The Role
Morrison Water Services, part of M Group Services, is recruiting for a Data Scientist to join our Business Services department. 
 

The Business Services function provides high-quality, strategically important support services to all business units in M Group Services’ Water Division, leveraging efficiency and expertise from a centrally managed approach.

The principal purpose of this role is to use data science to generate intelligence and insight, to make predictions and recommendations. Working closely with the Business Services Performance Improvement team, you will provide data and analysis to support the improvement of service and reduction of costs; helping to achieve our ambition to become the UK’s Leading Service Provider for Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Services.

As the Data Scientist your duties & responsibilities will include:  

  • Deliver a timely, accurate, data-focused service in all aspects of contract performance reporting and improvement
  • Sourcing and analysing contract metrics and performance data, creating reports and dashboards and providing feedback on contract performance
  • Produce performance metrics for client reporting, including KPI’s and SLA’s
  • Working cross functionally with other teams throughout the Water Division you will be converting data into a story
  • An analytical expert, utilising skills and industry knowledge to find trends, manage data and uncover solutions to business challenges
  • Identify initiatives which require facilitation to enable contract progression against internal and external key performance measures
  • Collaborate with IT and technical colleagues and suppliers to automate reporting and the generation of intelligence.
  • Convert data into intelligence to drive decision-making for operational and commercial improvements
  • Designing, developing and maintaining Power BI reports that are deployed across the business and ensure consistency of BI across the Water Division
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
 
  • An analytical mind with good business acumen and a strong attention to detail
  • An aptitude for problem-solving
  • Knowledge of R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset
  • Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g.: PowerBI)
  • Confident in giving presentations and explaining data & reports
  • A personable and efficient communicator able to promote solutions across the business
  • Project management and/or process improvement experience
    A self-motivated and highly professional team player with a flexible, yet structured approach
  • A self-starter: able to work on own initiative, but also able to proactively collaborate
  • Strong planning and organisational skills to manage competing priorities
  • Strong IT skills and proficient in MS Office applications
  • Degree level qualification desirable and we would consider a recent graduate with a relevant degree 
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
