About The Role

Morrison Utility Services are currently looking to recruit a Project/Senior Quantity Surveyor on a permanent basis to work on our High Speed 2 (HS2) contract in the Paddington area of London.

As the Project/Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be part of our Energy Projects team, who are responsible for delivering medium to large electrical substation and other energy projects to our clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for all commercial processes associated with the project
  • Work with each Project Manager and Site Project team providing all the commercial and financial support required
  • Build professional and supportive relationship with end clients
  • Provide detailed cost/value reconciliation analysis and contribution reporting on the project
  • Responsible for sub-contract and supplier procurement
  • Have a detailed understanding on the individual contract terms and associated processes
  • Responsible for all applications, invoicing, early warnings, compensation events, variation orders, etc.
  • Provide detailed cash flow forecasts, aged debt and WIP reporting
  • Contribute to monthly project board meetings and present commercial performance update
  • Seek value engineering opportunities and risk mitigation solutions

Skills and Knowledge Requirements

  • Previous Quantity Surveying experience on one-off large scale projects with extensive reporting requirements
  • Experience of detailed cost analysis, cost and value reporting on a monthly cycle and earned value analysis
  • A solid understanding of standard form contracts including NEC 3, JCT, FIDDIC
  • Effective subcontract procurement and contract negotiation
  • A pro-active and self-motivated approach, with a desire to significantly contribute to the success of the individual projects
  • Strong IT capability, in particular Excel and other Microsoft office applications
  • Excellent organisation, co-ordination and communication skills
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Ideally educated to Degree level in a related subject
