Morrison Water Services are currently looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to work on our IOS Anglian Water contract in Colchester.

The IOS Water Recycling Alliance are responsible for providing totex solutions to emergent needs which are too complex to be delivered directly by our Client. This is a vital initative across the region to ensure our customers continue to receive a great service with as little interruption as possible whilst remaining within budget.

To play a key supporting role in the commercial and cost management of a number of projects from within this exciting portfolio of work from inception through to close out, we are looking for an experience Quantity Surveyor to join the team based in Colchester!

As our Quantity Surveyor, you’ll work with the delivery team, providing support to both the delivery management and on-site delivery teams.

Embracing the outperformance mentality, you’ll ensure that operations are carried out to control costs, maximising value, minimising future liabilities and maintaining the required standard.

You will be responsible for assisting the programme area Estimating team to ensure robust estimates align to scope and make allowance for risks and opportunities. You will work closely with the Procurement team, Construction team and Project team in preparing Subcontracts and procurement strategies and ensuring they reflect agreed scope. You will produce accurate live forecasting, considering the programme and reporting in accordance with the respective work breakdown structure / cost breakdown structure.

You will be responsible for ensuring actual costs are monitored and assessed. You will provide reports on actual costs vs. estimate and identifying underlying reasons for any variance & resolutions, highlight, challenge and resolve variance to latest plans. 

You will ensure that all project team members (including site staff) understand the contractual arrangements, in order to satisfy Client & Partner organisation requirements. You will also ensure that proper records are kept & maintained so financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available. You will need to liaise with the Project team to ensure any Contractual notifications required are issued in accordance with the Contract. 

You will support the delivery teams locally in Colchester and Whitlingham and the central commercial function based in Peterborough.

Do you hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or HNC / HND in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with specific QS / commercial management experience?
