About The Role

Are you an experienced Construction Manager or looking to progress your career as an Assistant Project Manager?  You’ll work directly for Morrison Utility Services with Welsh Water to support growth within the Capital and Developer Services workstreams of the Dwr Cymru Welsh Water - Water Network Alliance Contract.  Welsh Water are the sixth largest of the ten regulated water and sewerage companies in England and Wales who are responsible for providing over three million people with a continuous, high quality supply of drinking water and for taking away, treating and properly disposing of the wastewater that is produced. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To take overall ownership and responsibility for delivery of the end to end process to ensure the successful delivery of all projects falling under your remit.
  • Responsibility includes all aspects of the project from handover from DCWW, to investigation and design through to operational delivery and handover back to the client.
  • To provide strategic and operational expertise in all areas of their contract responsibility.
  • You will exercise accountability and responsibility for Health, safety and wellbeing of all members of workforce under their supervision and management. Ensure the quality of work complies with the contract specifications (including such aspects as the “statement of assurance” for pre and post sampling of the network) and to ensure that environmental legislation is complied with.
  • In addition, you will be responsible for cost control, profitability and mitigation of regulatory and client liabilities.
  • Ensure all construction operations are undertaken and completed in accordance with MUS company policy and procedures, client specifications and any relevant statutory requirements.
  • Ensure the project is delivered on programme and within DCWW budget and maximise contract efficiencies by delivering an excellent customer service, optimising productivity on site and contributing to the business / contract targets.

Skills and Knowledge Requirements

  • Degree qualified, SMSTS/IOSH/NEBOSH, CSCS, SHEA Water, Temporary Works Coordinator
  • Extensive experience of Capital and Developer Services projects operating and delivery within the Clean Water Utilities Sector, to include:-
  • Mains renewals and rehabilitation via open cut, directional drilling, pipe bursting, slip liningŸ 
  • Mains cleansing including site investigation, enabling works and ice pigging
  • Developer services site installs including lay only on site works and excavate and lay off site works
  • Under pressure and flow stop techniques
  • Extensive working knowledge of pressurised pipelines and experience working on large diameter, high pressure and schemes with engineering difficulties
  • Ability to demonstrate positive and alliance behaviours to ensure an aligned delivery philosophy between DCWW, Morrison Utility Services and associated delivery partners
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven track record in managing construction teams and front line managers whilst delivering efficiency savings
  • Stakeholder and customer management skills
  • Strong problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to work to tight timescales and prioritise work efficiently
  • Working knowledge of CDM 2015 and associated health and safety legislation with commercial acumen and extensive experience of NEC3 Option A, C and E forms of contract
  • Demonstrate an awareness of the key process and procedures required to deliver targets
  • Flexible and an enthusiastic team leader and team player
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
