About The Role

Welsh Water is the sixth largest of the ten regulated water and sewerage companies in England and Wales who are responsible for providing over three million people with a continuous, high quality supply of drinking water and for taking away, treating and properly disposing of the wastewater that is produced.  In this role, you will support growth within the Capital Delivery work streams of the Dwr Cymru Welsh Water - Water Network Alliance Contract.

Role varies between small diameter domestic pipework, water network fittings (AVs/ PRVs / WOs) through to larger diameter mains renewals and repairs. You will have working knowledge of pressurised pipelines, safe dig techniques, trial hole investigations, under pressure installation, cut outs, hygiene practices and street works safety. You will carry out your duties with responsibility for the health, safety and wellbeing of all members of workforce including client and DCWW customers ensuring the quality of work complies within the contract specifications and environmental legislation ensuring we maximise contract efficiencies by delivering an excellent customer service, optimising productivity on site and contributing to the business / contract targets and compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will embed a safety culture whilst promoting Hazard and Near Miss reporting, ensuring that all works are carried out in a safe manner and that supervisors and teams comply with the relevant legislation and regulations whilst working.
  • You’ll deliver financial, productivity and Morrison Utility Services performance standards.
  • You will carry out continual reviews of resources and activities to maximising the operational performance.
  • Ensure all Supervisors & Team Leaders manage works so that they are completed in line with NRSWA and Section 74 requirements (good housekeeping, signing, lighting and guarding) so that potential fines are avoided
  • You will ensure appropriate communication with MUS Project Manager, Supervisor and Team Leaders and conduct pre-start site checks and work pack checks as appropriate before commencing works
  • Ensure effective on site liaison with customers, client, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Day-to-day management of teams ensuring teams complete necessary track sheets and timesheets daily.

Skills and Knowledge Requirements

  • Previous experience operating in a Clean Water Networks delivery environment
  • Proven experience of managing teams and staff in a contracting environment
  • Ability to work to tight time scales and prioritise work efficiently.
  • Knowledge of work activities associated with Clean Water Networks (opencut mainlaying, pipebursting, sliplining, lining, & cleaning techniques)
  • Proven stakeholder and customer management skills
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Extensive working knowledge of pressurised pipelines and hygiene practices
  • SSSTS/SMSTS, Streetworks, SHEA water card, Asbestos awareness, Towing capability, CPCS below 10t, First Aid
  • Full UK Driving Licence
