About The Role

Morrison Utility Services are currently looking to recruit a Flushing Operative to work on our Caledonia Water Alliance contract across Scotland.

As a Flushing Operative you will be part of our Operations Team who are responsible for all flushing operations and mains conditioning throughout Scotland as part of our water rehabilitation project.

Caledonia Water Alliance is a partnership between Aecom and Morrison Utility Services to support the delivery of the Scottish Water Capital Investment Programme and are responsible for delivering £360 million of clean water infrastructure.  Our services consist of programme management, design and rehabilitation of the water network across the whole of Scotland.

As a Flushing Operative your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Pre-rehabilitation assessment - surveying/locating all valves/hydrants and network apparatus, for accessibility and operation
  • Ability to read and understand Scottish Water drawings and network requirements
  • Ability to understand and operate non-complex monitoring and reporting equipment
  • Provide daily/nightly reports
  • Liaise with Scottish Water Operational staff on all work and DOM's procedures.
  • Carry out valve and hydrant operations
  • Assess work areas and the impact on customers and visit to proactively to discuss work
  • Deal with and resolve any customer issues that arise from flushing operations
  • Keep accurate records of all valve/hydrant locations and operations and also for all customer contacts and notifications

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Focus on all aspects of Health & Safety on sites
  • Ability to build relationships with Site Operatives
  • Ability to build customer relationships and deal with people from all backgrounds and in all situations
  • Ability to think about risk and impact to customers and be reactive to issues as and when they occur
  • Communication skills
  • Attention to detail and problem solving

Additional Information

  • The position involves predominantly night shift working, with some day shifts as required.  The candidate must be over 21 and hold a full driving licence.  Travel throughout Scotland will be required to carry out this role.  DOM's & Water Hygiene qualifications will be required.
