About The Role

Morrison Utility Services are recruiting for a Commercial Manager on the Yorkshire Water (YW) Water Services Agreement contract covering the entire geographic footprint of Yorkshire Water.

This is a highly challenging senior management role, ultimately responsible and accountable for all commercial delivery aspects of the Contract, designed at meeting both Morrison and Client business needs and targets. The role will also focus on heavy involvement in re-tendering of the Agreement. The current Contract term ends at the end of March 2021; a bid team will be established to re-secure the Contract.

As the Commercial Manager, your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • To actively seek out and pursue new ideas and different ways of working and to develop and implement changes to process, following understanding of a need to make changes to improve performance.
  • Direct management of a team of circa 15 commercial staff who deliver all commercial management activity linked to the Contract.
  • To assist and advise the senior management team on commercial influences around Cost and Value reporting and changes required to ensure profit targets are met.
  • To ensure all Morrison and Client processes are followed to minimise WIP (outstanding cash) and keep WIP within the contract and business target, whilst ensuring cash is received on time at forecast level
  • Oversee production and presentation of both Weekly and Monthly CVR’s and to complete cashflow and aged debt reports.
  • To oversee the procurement and management of sub-contractors and other suppliers.
  • Management of the Early Warning and Compensation Event process.
  • Production and presentation of productivity measures linked to the operations resource to ensure tender compliance.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
  • BSc in Commercial Management / Quantity Surveying or other construction related subject and/or substantial previous experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Detailed knowledge, understanding and previous experience of NEC contracts.
  • Knowledge of work activities undertaken (Administrative and Operational).
  • An understanding of all relevant statutory, regulatory and company policies and guidelines.
  • The ability and desire to identify opportunities for improvement and influence change.
  • To be able to react to constant changing workloads.
  • Knowledge of service delivery within the utilities sector.
  • Excellent people management skills.
