Reporting to Team Leaders, Project Managers and Senior Management Team this is a well-established supervisor, whose experience, knowledge, and skill set are invaluable on any project. You are someone that others come to for advice regarding their role and current projects. You are confident and capable with a track record of leading large teams on large, complex projects, and always demonstrates role model behavior on behalf of the company.

This supervisor is skilled, experienced, and proficient in multiple PMP specialty areas e.g., mechanical engineering, fabrication, liaising with customers on site and on the phone, preparation of initial drawings for the design team, site H&S and performance of others on site.  Someone who is building up to and the next career step into a Team Leader position (or similar) when the opportunity arises.

Key Duties

  • Assist in complex solution development and delivery of projects in a timely and safe manner. Regularly thinks about, develops, and communicates commercially beneficial ideas to projects.
  • Always ensures and promotes site safety, good working practices and efficient delivery of all tasks given.
  • Acts as site supervisor in a leadership role delivering large scale, high complexity projects/portions of projects on behalf of Team Leaders/Project Managers.
  • Reports back to Team Leader or Project Manager, any relevant project delivery details as well as acting as the customer liaison.  Always provides clear, concise two-way communication with all colleagues, making sure that all the relevant information is documented and delivered to all members accurately.
  • Analyse and solve engineering problems that arise during a project. Develop quick, safe, accurate engineering solutions to the problem to successfully deliver the project on time. Almost always able to achieve this successfully when problems arise.
  • Undertake small team supervision and lead small projects as and when necessary. Always demonstrates good leadership skills and can motivate the team to achieve the required outcome.
  • Leads by example and promotes safety and compliance with company policies: e.g., compulsory use of PPE, vehicles, site cleanliness and the Hillington depot. Confidently checking and challenging any poor/unwanted behavior by a colleague and can effectively communicate why such behaviors are not accepted.
  • Instruct, teach, and lead others - always actively seeks to develop other staff members where/when possible and highlight to TL’s and management.
  • Use of one’s own knowledge, technical experience, and engineering skill set to help in the daily delivery of all PMP projects. Always seeks to execute/communicate their expertise/knowledge effectively in a particular area to help in delivery of projects.
  • Delivery of team toolbox talks and ensuring that all the correct documentation is always in place where necessary e.g., site permits, RAMS, handovers, and project completion documents.
  •  Builds and maintains good working relationships with customers, fellow colleagues, and higher management and able to communicate effectively at all levels. Always requested and selected for teams by their peers/senior management.
  • To be involved with as well as provide technical input in meetings with customers and higher management, when necessary, always giving valuable input.
  • Always able to carry out technical site duties and site maintenance where instructed/required and under their own initiative.
  • Commitment to own professional development, enhancing and improving skills and knowledge for the benefit of all - always seeks to develop themselves/ their skill set where possible.
  • Always assists Team Leaders/Project Managers with the costing of the required materials and components from MUS suppliers when asked and where necessary for the benefit of the company.
  • Keep ICT skills updated to ensure use of technology as required with the ability to feedback accurate ICT information to Team Leaders and Project Managers to update the digital contract files.
  • Is always an ambassador of the business and embraces PMP’s vision and values.

Additional skills

  • Experienced Supervisor with an excellent track record of using their skills and knowledge to deliver large complex projects on behalf of the project owner.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to quickly build and develop customer rapport.
  • With a proven track record of excellent timekeeping and time management with the ability to prioritise their workload to ensure all given tasks are carried out effectively and deadlines are met.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate technical site drawings of any surveys or measurements carried out on behalf of a Team Leader or Project Manager. From these site drawings a senior staff member should be able to quote items, purchase materials and manufacture technical components.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to sometimes tight deadlines but accurately ensuring all tasks within their role are always completed effectively and to a good standard.
  • Completion of technical courses - actively uses spare work time to practice and teach new skills gained with other team members to further develop everyone’s skillsets and knowledge.
  • The ability to use new skills proficiently and regularly demonstrates these skills to the benefit of all, evidence of which is documented.
  • Building a good reputation amongst their peers in one or more of PMP’s key specialist areas. Developing and demonstrating skills, evidence of which is documented.

  • Always works safely and involves SHEQ and senior management when they feel uncomfortable or need to seek commercial/business advice. Knows and understands their limits and never makes rash uncalculated decisions without first seeking help.
  • Regularly steps forward when a new project is presented to them, showing a willingness to engage, be involved and accountable.
