M Group Services is recruiting for a Commercial Director (Process & Systems) to become a part of our expanding Central Commercial Function.
Within this role, you’ll be a key part of our Central Commercial team function, who are responsible for providing oversight of commercial performance, processes and teams across the Group’s operating businesses.
Given the rapid growth that the Group has experienced over recent years (both organic and through acquisition), you will be a valued part of the Group Commercial team, working to actively manage our commercial risks and opportunities across the Group.
Within this role, you’ll have the opportunity effective processes and controls in place to govern our commercial position with clients and sub-contractors.
You will provide support to the COO in improving the performance of the Group through developing and leading a wide range of planning, performance improvement and commercial activities, including the integration of new acquisitions.

Within this role, agile working is offered, where you can spend 2 days a week in the Stevenage Head Office and the rest of the week at your choice. There will also be travel required throughout the UK to visit M Group offices as and when required.
As the Commercial Director your key outputs will be:
- Develop and maintain the Group Commercial Reporting Rules and Compliance Procedures
- Develop and maintain Cost & Value Reporting (CVR) templates and forms and ensure these are implemented consistently across all Divisions
- Chair and carry out Divisional commercial reviews, focusing at contract-level where appropriate, and create commercial corrective actions – setting the agenda, chairing meetings, managing the discussion
- Develop and maintain a Group wide Business Management System (BMS) covering end-to-end commercial functions / processes and establishing the minimum standards applicable to all Divisions including procedures, documents, guidance notes and tools
- Hold Divisions to account against a set of Commercial ‘must dos’ (defined within the BMS)
What you’ll bring?
- Experience operating as a senior commercial manager together with good financial experience gained within the utilities or infrastructure services sector
- You have a good knowledge of framework agreements and join venture partnerships
- Highly experienced in completing and reviewing cost and value reconciliations
- Extensive knowledge of value measurement approaches and accounting
- Strong with stakeholders, experience of change delivery projects, able bring people ‘on the journey’ and not afraid to challenge at a senior-level
- Good all round project management skills as well as a good understanding of commercial and financial systems
- You’re able to capture detail behind assertions, commercial audit experience would be advantageous
- Highly engaged team-player, with a collaborative approach – you communicate effectively and have honed your presentation skills
- Gravitas, good judgement and able to influence at senior levels
